Our Story…

Hello and welcome to Edge Luxury Villas

We are Cameron and Clare, the husband-and-wife team behind the incredible Edge Luxury Villas. Our ‘Edge’ story is not short or simply grown from ‘luck’, it is one of change, years of hard work and the strong desire to create an unforgettable accommodation experience for guests visiting the Margaret River Region.

In 2012, we took a huge, exciting step and traded city life for the South West region. Initially we searched for a simple 2-acre plot for a tree change, space for Cameron to have a big shed and room for a very energetic Border Collie puppy. But destiny had grander plans, and we purchased a 137-acre run-down farm! As a teacher and a tradesman, we were hardly your standard landowners, and we set out on quite the journey.  

The property had been on the market for almost 3 years, and Cameron and I were the first to explore it in months. Despite its rough appearance from years of neglect, we saw endless possibilities that ignited our imagination. With Cameron’s skill set and our inability to ever sit still, we set about transforming the land to its true potential. Since that day we have worked relentlessly, planting thousands of trees, renovating a 1920s farmhouse, protecting the old growth forest, built a lake and bridge, improved buildings, roads, fences, created a beautiful entranceway, and finally built four luxury villas. 

Our long-term vision for the property began to change from simply being our home to creating a business and income from it. Cameron had been working away since 2008, and it was tough going for me working full-time and looking after the property by myself when he was away. In 2019, we welcomed our miracle baby Emily, and we really began to think about how we could get Cameron home full-time, so we could have time together as a family. During my maternity leave I began a small campground on the edge of our lake. People would come and stay in their caravans and be in absolute awe of the property, and we became very popular, very quickly! An idea began to sprout in my mind, and I said to Cameron that we should build accommodation by the lake. Cameron thought about this and said, NO WAY! He needed a little convincing…

Of course, he changed his mind and soon the ideas began flowing. One idea that we were very passionate about was that this accommodation was going to be absolute quality, no cheap build, no cutting corners, we wanted a truly unique, luxury experience for guests, and one not experienced anywhere else. The design ideas changed here and there, but the location was never in doubt, absolute water frontage was a must! In 2022, we signed a contract to build four truly remarkable  overwater villas. It may have taken longer than planned, but we believe the wait was worthwhile. 

At the end of 2023, Edge Luxury Villas opened! I finished teaching and Cameron was home full-time by February 2024. We were exhausted, broke and couldn’t have been happier! We did what we set out to achieve and are absolutely in love with our villas. They have given us our own business, an income, family time and they provide our guests a truly incredible overwater getaway here in the Margaret River Region.
